Held Up
Held Up
This piece is a visceral study of stress and strain. The composition features a central figure with closed eyes, her head supported by her hands as if she can no longer bear the weight.
The color palette is a deliberate contrast; the head and face are rendered in sickly yellow and green tones to reflect an internal ugliness brought on by exhaustion. This stands in sharp relief against the monochromatic black and white background, pushing the figure into the immediate forefront. It is a visual manifestation of the feeling that one simply cannot take anymore.
